US History 1 (1890-1946)
COURSE PURPOSETHIS COURSE IS INTENDED TO COVER A BROAD RANGE OF US HISTORY, TAKES US THROUGH WWII. STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE USII THEIR JUNIOR YEAR AND THAT COURSE WILL PICK UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF.
STUDENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR READING THEIR TEXTBOOKS AT HOME. WHILE MY LECTURE WILL COVER MUCH OF THE INFORMATION, STUDENTS NEED TO WRITE UP CORNELL NOTES FOR EACH CHAPTER, AND THERE WILL NOT BE TIME IN CLASS TO DO SO. THESE NOTES CAN BE USED ON EXAMS, AND WILL BE A SEPARATE GRADE IF THEY ARE COMPLETE. |
UNIT 1• THIS UNIT COVERS INDUSTRIAL AMERICA. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE ROBBERS BARONS, AND URBAN SETTLEMENT.
We will be finishing up this unit by 2/23, and students need to be sure they have read the text, Chapter 16. |
UNIT 2• THIS UNIT COVERS THE PROGRESSIVE ERA. WE WILL DISCUSS, IMMIGRATION, EMIGRATION, CHILD LABOR, AND SOCIAL CONSCIENCE

UNIT 3• THIS UNIT COVERS THE US AS AN IMPERIALIST NATION. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE US MOVE INTO THE PACIFIC, AND LATIN AMERICA AND THE IMPACT OF THIS IMPERIALISM.

UNIT 4• THIS UNIT COVERS WWI. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE BUILD UP TO WAR, US INVOLVEMENT IN WAR, AND THE RESULTANT WORLD RELATIONS AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE WAR.
